  22. IMPORTANT NOTE:

  24. To Install the STF AutoPak, you must first have FaxSTF™ 3.0 installed.  
  25.  
  26. If you have aliased your STF folder, the Components folder, or the FAX In folder you must move them back to their original locations before installing the STF AutoPak.  This is necessary for the installation to work correctly.  You may move them back where you want them after installation.

  30. System Requirements

  32. To use the STF AutoPak you need the following minimum equipment and software:

  43.     Because Optical Character Recognition is a processor-intensive activity, we recommend using the fastest Macintosh available.  Slower Macs can perform OCR, however, you may find processing time to be unacceptably long.

  45.     Additional RAM assures that STF AutoPrint and/or STF AutoOCR will have enough RAM available to run when automatic processing is begun.  You should make sure there is RAM available if you leave the computer unattended with automatic processing scheduled (or when set to process immediately upon reception).

  48. 5 MB System note:

  50. To use STF AutoOCR on a 5 MB system, you will need to set the "preferred" size of the application to 3 MB using the "Get Info..." command from the Finder.  This assumes your system software is using between 1,500 - 2,000 K of RAM, leaving only 3MB available.

  53. DOCUMENTATION CORRECTIONS

  55. Introduction • 1 — "Fax Processing capability" — The STF Developer Kit can not be used to process received faxes.  The Developers Kit allows application developers and database programmers to fax-enable their programs for sending faxes.

  57. 2 • STF AutoOCR — "3.    Select the file(s) you wish to recognize..." — You may only select only ONE file at a time in an "Open" dialog.

STF AutoOCR • 3  — "3.    Select a file format for the output..." — This pop-up will not appear exactly as pictured.  "FrameMaker," "FullWrite Pro," "PageMaker," "QuarkXpress 2.11," and "Ready Set Go!" will not appear in this list.  If you use one of these programs, please review the documentation that came with it for selection of a compatible format.  (Microsoft Word 4.0 format will probably work — use your program's "Import" or "Place" command to open your recognized text file for use with these programs.)

  63. STF AutoOCR • 7 — "Quit when idle" — If this box is unchecked the application will remain open after being run to process a received fax.  When this box is checked, the application will run, process the fax(es) and then quit.
